October 2008 Issue
A Message From the President
I don’t like talking about the holiday season in October any more than you like hearing Christmas music in early November. And usually, I start shopping December 24th (maybe the 23rd!). However, I’ll make an exception for the “More Than Media Auction” November 20th from 5:30pm-8:00pm. It’s the perfect place to get ahead on your holiday shopping, and to pick up spectacular deals on media buys. Admission and parking are free for Ad Club members and their guests. The event includes complimentary 1-hour open bar along with pasta and carving stations.
This is a very exciting time to be involved with the Syracuse Ad Club. Our events are filling up with more people and energy and there is no end in sight. We had perfect weather for the golf tournament, that was followed up with one of the best networking nights that I have attended, and then the Palace Theatre did a great job of helping us spotlight the Fall Preview. Then, coming up we are fortunate to have Phillip Beswick from the Media Audit to join us on October 20th. this should be a must see for anyone buying or selling media in the Syracuse area. And once more I’ll say it, Get thee to the Media Auction – it will be a great time, and great deals will be had. Read More … Contact: Sean Johnston Email: sjohnston@lamar.com

(NYSE: CBU), was awarded for creative excellence in financial marketing with its “Bank Happy” campaign, created by Community Bank’s agency of record, Eric Mower and Associates (EMA).

Pinckney Hugo Group, a full-service marketing communications firm based in Syracuse, N.Y., and Salada Tea were featured by ADWEEK, The New York Times and PRWeek for the launch of Salada’s “Unbottle Your Tea” campaign. The purpose of the educational campaign is to promote the consumption of freshly brewed tea from tea bags as a healthier, less expensive and more environmentally friendly alternative to bottled teas.
The campaign includes national print and online advertising, public relations, and an “Unbottle Your Tea” Web site that features health, environmental and cost-saving statistics, links to related articles, social networking, green activism, an advice column from a nutritionist, recipes and giveaways.
Mark Dolliver, from ADWEEK writes, “You know ‘green marketing’ is getting more sophisticated when it includes a subtle attempt to hamstring a brand's competitors... Needless to say, this would be a blow to Salada's bottled-tea rivals. Nothing like saving the planet and sinking your competitors in one fell swoop.”
